The people of Haiti continue to suffer enormously due to recent tragedies. In 2010, a major earthquake hit Haiti as well as and Hurricane Matthew in 2016. Many Haitians are without basic necessities such as clean water, jobs, a secure home or minimal medical care.
The United States supported Visitation Hospital that is making a major difference for 300,000 people in the Nippes region, southwest of Haiti by delivering minimal cost medical service and infection preventive care for infants. Since opening in 2008, over 250,000 have been treated.
Our Catholic managed hospital/clinic has a guest house on site for visiting medics and volunteers who come and do pro bono work for this extremely improvised population, where many are baptized Catholics. More volunteers and funding are required to assist our brothers and sisters in need.
