Suicide Prevention Month

  • Download PDF Version available for use with email and print distribution.

To: Bulletin editors, campus ministries, youth ministries, pastors, principals and parish ministry coordinators
From: Maggie Rousseau, director of disabilities ministry, Office of Life, Dignity and Justice

Wednesday, September 10, was Suicide Prevention Day. Additionally, the month of September is Suicide Prevention Month. Your prayers are requested to remember all individuals and families throughout the Archdiocese of Atlanta affected by suicide.

Suicide often leaves behind painful questions and heavy grief, yet our faith reminds us that God’s love is greater than despair. The Catholic Church does not speak with condemnation, but with compassion, mercy and hope, assuring us that no soul is ever forgotten by God. For those mourning a loved one lost to suicide, the Church offers healing through stories of faith, accompaniment and the gentle reminder that in Christ, no one walks alone.

The below resources are provided by the Association of Catholic Mental Health Ministers.

Please make these announcements available to your employees and publish them in your parish newsletter and bulletins for the month of September/October. Thank you.
