To: Priests
From: Rev. Pedro Poloche, director, Ongoing Formation of Priests
Dear brothers,
Please join us for the 2025 Priests’ Retreat, which will take place from September 8–12, at Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, Georgia.
As you know, this year we are honored to welcome Fr. Timothy Gallagher, OMV, as our retreat facilitator. Fr. Gallagher is a renowned teacher and author on Ignatian spirituality, and he will be guiding us through a powerful and timely theme:
“The Discerning Priest: Ignatian Wisdom for Daily Life in the
Diocesan Priesthood”
As diocesan priests, we all encounter the rhythms of consolation and desolation in our ministry. Drawing from the wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Fr. Gallagher will help us recognize these spiritual movements and respond with clarity, courage and renewed pastoral joy.
Retreat topics will include:
- What it means to live the discerning life
- Recognizing the action of God and the bad spirit in daily priestly life
- The gift of spiritual consolation and how to grow through it
- Naming and rejecting spiritual desolation
- Wise and unwise changes during times of desolation
- Vulnerabilities of discouragement and how to overcome them
- Identifying and resisting temptation
- Spiritual accompaniment in the discerning life
This retreat offers us a sacred space to reflect, recharge and reconnect with the Lord and with one another. I encourage you to make every effort to attend and to allow the Lord to speak to you through the silence, prayer and spiritual insights offered.
We have limited space at our retreat due to the size of the hotel, so please do not delay registering.
All registration will be online, but senior priests are welcome to contact Amanda Hailey directly at 678-595-9181 to register.
Parishes/ministry assignments will be billed after the event. We hope to see you there!
