  • Download PDF Version available for use with email and print distribution.

To: Priests, deacons, brothers, sisters, principals and chancery staff
From: Maureen Smith, director, Office of Communications

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis, who died today, April 21.

Priests, please note that the name of the pope is to be omitted during the Eucharistic Prayer until a new pope is elected. Priests should celebrate a Mass for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis as soon as you are able.

The Archdiocese of Atlanta will celebrate a Mass for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis on Thursday, April 24, at 7 p.m., at the Cathedral of Christ the King. Priests who wish to vest and concelebrate should RSVP to Trish Carr at tcarr@ctking.com.

If you or your parish will hold a Mass or prayer service for Pope Francis, please let The Georgia Bulletin know by sending an email to editor@georgiabulletin.org. If you receive media requests from secular media, please refer them to communications@archatl.com.

The Georgia Bulletin has posted and shared a statement from Archbishop Hartmayer, OFM Conv. Statements and reflections from the other bishops will follow. Please feel free to share these with your community.
