Famous Mass of the Americas comes to Atlanta July 16 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church

To: Pastors, parish administrators, bulletin editors and music directors
From: Rev. Luke Ballman, pastor, Holy Spirit Catholic Church

Please include the following in your parish bulletins and share with your parishioners every weekend leading up to the event on July 16. See promotional graphic.

English Announcement:
The Famous Mass of the Americas Comes to Atlanta, with Archbishop Cordileone, on July 16, at 7 p.m., Holy Spirit Catholic Church

Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone will celebrate the Mass of the Americas, a twinned tribute to Our Lady of Guadalupe and Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception featuring the renowned 20-voice Schola Benedictus XVI choir and orchestra. The music by composer Frank La Rocca, which has been called the “most important Catholic composition of our lifetime,” takes Mexican folk hymns to Our Lady (especially La Guadalupana) and weaves them into the high sacred music tradition of the church. The recording debuted at #1 on the Billboard traditional classical music charts.

Since its first celebration in San Francisco, the Mass of the Americas has traveled to many cities including Tijuana, Houston, Pasadena, Rome, Miami and New York and Washington D.C.; and now for the first time, Atlanta.

Two years ago, Pope Francis called for a nine-year novena and special events in many countries to prepare for the 500th anniversary of the appearance of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 2031. This special unity Mass to Our Lady is a profoundly fitting response to that call.
