To: Priests, deacons, RCIA personnel and pastoral support staff
From: Fr. Paul Burke, J.C.L., adjutant judicial vicar, Metropolitan Tribunal
It has come to my attention that prenuptial files, forms and other documents have been mailed to the Tribunal, but they still have not been received.
I looked at the various media outlets over the past few days, and these are major issues with the United States Postal Service.
Consequently, there are major issues with the United States Post Office at this time, and these are undoubtedly having a significant impact on mail being received by the Tribunal. In order to address this situation, I would ask:
- If you have submitted anything to the Tribunal by mail that needs to be processed prior to the Easter Vigil, please call Angela Pratt at 404-920-7511 as soon as possible to verify that the documents have been received.
- Also, for any other requests such as dispensations, permissions, or nihil obstats for March and April 2024, please verify with Angela Pratt that these have been received.
- While it is imperative that we receive original documents with signatures and seals, we will accept documents and requests by email until the postal issue is resolved.
- Please consider hand-delivering requests or using a service like FEDEX in the meantime.
- All requests will need to be prioritized according to the date of convalidation or marriage.
- For emergencies, please call me at 770-883-2803 or email me at pburke@archatl.com.
- Finally, so that we can serve you better, please place a telephone call to Angela Pratt first if you have a question or a concern. Please do not send emails to multiple employees within the Tribunal about the same question or concern.
- All requests must be sent or hand-delivered to the Tribunal so that a protocol number can be assigned.
Thank you for your cooperation.
