To: Pastors, business managers, parish communicators
From: Maureen Smith, director, Office of Communications
Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr has issued a warning to churches in the state about a scam that targets faith-based organizations. The warning includes steps to take when the scam hits a parish, including the important step of reporting it to law enforcement. Please read the release and make your staff aware of steps they can take. In addition to the resources in the release, the Office of Information Technology at the Archdiocese of Atlanta recommends the FBI’s cyber-crime website.
It is a good practice to let your parishioners know about the scam even if it has not hit your community.
