CCHD second collection

  • Download PDF Version available for use with email and print distribution.

To: All clergy, bulletin editors, business managers and social justice ministries
From: Jayna Hoffacker, director of Restorative Justice Ministry; Office of Life, Dignity and Justice

The annual second collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) will be held the weekend of November 18 & 19, coinciding with the World Day of the Poor on November 19.

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is the domestic anti-poverty program of the U.S. Catholic Bishops. CCHD works to break the cycle of poverty by helping low-income people participate in decisions that affect their lives, families and communities. CCHD offers a hand up, not a hand out.

The money raised by the CCHD second collection support this mission through funding grants for community organizations and parishes working to break the cycle of poverty at the grassroots level. 25 percent of the funds collected stay right here in the Archdiocese of Atlanta to support that work locally. CCHD is an essential part of the Church in the United States’ social mission, and a unique part of the Catholic community’s broad commitment to assist low-income people, families and communities.

Please plan to promote CCHD in advance of the second collection in November. Materials to share the good work that CCHD does and how the second collection supports it are available in English and Spanish here: https://www.usccb.org/committees/catholic-campaign-human-development/catholic-campaign-human-development-collection
