Our diocesan attorneys have notified us that the litigation hold that has been in place in one form or another since October 2018 from the USCCB relating to any records involving sexual conduct with minors can be removed and normal disposition can be resumed.
This litigation hold was originally put into place prior to the Prosecuting Attorneys Council’s review of our files that ended with a published report in February 2023. Now that the review has been completed and the report published, we are able to resume normal disposition of our records.
Please note that the cancellation of this litigation hold does not impact any other litigation holds that may be in place. If you have been notified of a specific litigation matter recently, restrictions on those specific records will remain in place until you are notified otherwise.
If you have any questions regarding the cancellation of the USCCB litigation hold or regarding any other litigation holds, please contact the Office of Archives and Records at records@archatl.com. You can find the Records Retention Schedule and Records Disposition Form on the archdiocesan website at https://archatl.com/offices/archives/records-management/.
