  • Download PDF Version available for use with email and print distribution.

To: Priests, deacons, religious, parish catechetical leaders/DREs, youth ministers, young adult ministry leaders, campus ministers
From: Andy Lichtenwalner, director, Evangelization & Discipleship

Bishop Américo Aguiar, auxiliary bishop of Lisbon, Portugal, and president of the World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 Foundation, has sent an appeal to dioceses for young adult volunteers for World Youth Day (August 1-6 in Lisbon). This is a last call for volunteers.

If you know of any young adults who may be interested in committing to this service at this late stage, please direct them to https://www.lisboa2023.org/en/become-a-volunteer before Monday, June 5. For questions, they may contact Joana Coimbra (joana.coimbra@lisboa2023.org).

The WYD Local Organizing Committee is also still welcoming young adult volunteers to comprise an international group of performers for dance and music during the event. This is a longer commitment. Those interested can go to www.lisboa2023.org/en/ensemble23 or email ensemble23@lisboa2023.org.

Lastly, if you are sponsoring or are aware of a local group attending WYD in Lisbon, please contact Allen Austin at aaustin@archatl.com. Arrangements are in process for a send-off Mass for all local WYD pilgrims this summer.

Thank you for your consideration and for your prayers for the WYD Local Organizing Committee and for all the WYD pilgrims. For further questions, please feel free to contact Allen at the email address above.
