To: Priests, deacons, brothers and sisters of the Archdiocese of Atlanta and the Diocese of Savannah
From: Frank Mulcahy, Georgia Catholic Conference (404) 920-7367      fmulcahy@georgiacc.org

Pray for the children. We all grieve for the children and adults killed in Texas last week. There are no words that are adequate. Watch Archbishop Hartmayer’s homily regarding his tragedy and stay to pray the Franciscan litany for peace at the end of the homily.

Pope Francis prays and calls for action on guns. Following the shooting in Texas, Pope Francis expressed his heart break over the deaths of the children and adults. Consistent with his past statements, the pope said that “It is time to say enough to the indiscriminate trafficking of guns.”

Don’t fall prey to immigration scammers. We have said it before, immigrants and those supporting them must be careful when seeking help with immigration’s legal issues. Always seek help from attorneys experienced in immigration law. Do not be fooled by notaries or other scammers who cannot produce the results they claim. Catholic Immigration Network provides a resource page to help identify those who will take unfair advantage.

Spiritually, join Pope Francis in praying for Ukraine. The Holy Father has invited Catholics throughout the world to join him in praying the rosary for peace in Ukraine. The Pope will pray in the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome before the statue of Mary Queen of Peace on Tuesday, May 31, at 6 p.m. in Rome (noon Eastern Time). There will be no broadcast but the faithful may pray the rosary in spiritual union with the Pope.
