To: Priests
From: The Most Reverend Bernard E. Shlesinger III
Dear Brother in Christ,
I am extending to you an invitation to attend a mini retreat with Sister Briege McKenna, O.S.C and Fr. Pablo Escriva de Romani on Thursday, May 19, at the Cathedral of Christ the King at 11 a.m.
As you may know, Sister Briege was miraculously and instantaneously healed during the celebration of Eucharist from years of suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis. Sometime after, she received the gift of healing in prayer for which she has become widely known.
In 1974, again during prayer, she was given a deep spiritual insight into the mystery of the call to priesthood. Since then, bishops and priests in many parts of the world have invited her to speak and minister at their retreats and conferences. Sister Briege ministered to priests in collaboration with Fr. Kevin Scallon, CM for over 42 years until his death in June 2018. She now continues with this ministry working with Fr. Pablo Escriva de Romani. Her books “Miracles Do Happen” and “The Power of the Sacraments” have been translated into many languages throughout the world.
Father Escriva de Romani was born in Spain and studied Theology in the Faculty of San Damaso in Madrid. He worked in Ukraine as a missionary giving retreats and helping people in the war zone. He is currently working as a diocesan missionary from Madrid in Costa Rica and helping in the indigenous zones, working with youth and giving spiritual exercises to priests. One of his current initiatives is to restore a retreat house to receive priests willing to have a missionary experience and renew their priesthood.
You will hear short talks by both Sr. Briege and Fr. Escriva de Romani followed by the Exposition of the Eucharist and prayer. The event will begin at 11 a.m. and wrap up around 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
The retreat will take place in Kenny Hall at the Cathedral of Christ of King. RSVP to Amanda Hailey at ahailey@archatl.com or by calling 678-595-9181.
I hope that you will be able to join us and think you will find this retreat opportunity valuable.
