To: Clergy, religious, parish communicators, bulletin editors and social ministry leaders
From: Kat Doyle, Director of Justice and Peace Ministries; Office of Life, Dignity and Justice
We invite you to share information about World Refugee Day and the below advocacy action in your parish communications.
Sunday, June 20, is World Refugee Day. The Archdiocese of Atlanta will offer a virtual prayer service that will be posted on Livestream and Facebook.
We encourage all parishes to observe this day in your communities. To help you plan how you would like to pray for and express your solidarity with refugees, please take a look at Justice for Immigrants’ World Refugee Day Toolkit.
Protect programs that support refugees
Advocacy is an important action we can take to support migrants and refugees. Refugees and families on the move are living in crowded settlements with little access to clean water and soap, space to social distance and other basic needs.
Urge your elected officials to respond to the needs of our human family and prevent further devastation around the world by providing international assistance to poverty-reducing programs. Click here to ask Congress to act.
