Catholic Charities Atlanta’s Refugee Youth Mentoring Program is seeking volunteers (ages 21+) who are ready to offer welcome and support to refugee teens (ages 12-17) through mentoring.
Mentors and mentees are paired one-on-one and meet weekly in the child’s home or in the community and often spend time together working on homework, playing sports, pursuing shared interests, or exploring the city. Most of the refugee families we serve live in Clarkston, Tucker, or Decatur.
Mentor eligibility: Must be 21+ years old; be willing to meet with mentee weekly for one year, usually in or near Clarkston, GA; attend an 8-hour training; and be willing to complete an application and a background check (~$51 fingerprint fee. Limited financial assistance sometimes available). For information or to get started, please contact Bryn Murphy at bmurphy@catholiccharitiesatlanta.org.
