Abbot Justin Brown, O.S.B. of Saint Joseph Abbey in Louisiana will lead our biennial Priests’ Retreat this year September 16-20 at Brasstown Valley Resort.
Abbot Brown made his profession of monastic vows in 1984 and was ordained to the priesthood April 27, 1990. Prior to entering the novitiate at Saint Joseph Abby in 1983, he was a seminarian for the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux at the American College, Louvain.
He has held numerous positions at Saint Joseph Abbey and the Seminary College including Retreat Master, Spiritual Director, Seminary Professor of Religious Studies, Director of Development and Alumni and Director of Camp Abbey. He also served in parish ministry in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux.
In 1997, he was appointed prior and on November 23, 2001 was elected abbot. He currently serves on the Abbot President’s Council of the Swiss-American Congregation.
Registration for the retreat is open. It will begin on Monday, September 16, 2019 with our first talk at 2:00 p.m. Check-in will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by lunch. The retreat will end with lunch on Friday, September 20.
The cost of the retreat is $850.00 for single occupancy and $650.00 for double occupancy. Retired priests attend at no cost. Your parish or ministry is responsible for this expense. Please return your check made payable to the Archdiocese of Atlanta and completed registration form no later than August 9, 2019. Mailing instructions are included on the registration form.
These retreats are important moments for our presbyterate and every priest ministering in the Archdiocese is invited and encouraged to attend. The days away provide a wonderful opportunity for us to pray together, rest and simply enjoy the company of your brothers.
