John Washington, a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Atlanta, has been assigned this summer to the Migrant Ministries in the Diocese of Yakima in Central Washington State. The diocese has a large population of migrant workers that follow the fruit crops throughout the year for harvest, and these ministries seek to care for their needs.
One of the ministries he has been involved in is The Literacy Wagon, designed to keep the kids of migrant families reading during the summer and to sustain their educational development while their parents work in the fields. This requires a great investment of resources, particularly children’s and young adult books, and we are asking for your help in meeting this need.
If you are interested in supporting this ministry, please stop by the Office of Vocations to donate your new or gently used young adult and children’s books (ages 3 and up) by July 20.
For additional information, please contact John Washington at jwashington@archatl.com.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
