The Office of Catholic Schools proudly announces the winners of the 2018 Scholarship for Academic Excellence.
Our female recipient is Miss Samantha Rizzo of Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Johns Creek. Sammy will continue her education at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in the fall, where she looks forward to advancing her artistic prowess in theatre. She has been actively engaged in her school and church, securing several recognitions for her academic achievement, virtuous demeanor, and service to others. Sammy is a parishioner at St. Brigid in Johns Creek.
Mr. Alexander Possert of Christ the King Catholic School is our male recipient of the 2018 Scholarship for Academic Excellence. Alex looks forward to attending St. Pius X Catholic High School in August. He has served his school as a member of the student council and safety patrol and is also a student ambassador for weekend open houses. He volunteers at his parish, Christ the King, where he also plays on several sports teams through the Catholic Metro League of Atlanta.
Please join us in recognizing these two outstanding students. We offer our gratitude to the school communities of Holy Redeemer and Christ the King, as well as the parishes of St. Brigid’s and the Cathedral for supporting this young man and woman in their faith formation.
This Scholarship for Academic Excellence is awarded to two rising freshman planning to attend one of our archdiocesan Catholic high schools. Applicants must be Catholic and rank in the top 15% of their class. The scholarships, in the amount of $350.00 each, are awarded to one male and one female applicant, and are renewable in the student’s sophomore year as long as he/she remains in good standing with the school. The overall value of the scholarship, in this case, is $700.00 per recipient.
