On Saturday, April 1, there will be a peace walk and statue unveiling to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The event is organized by World Peace Revival, an initiative of the National Monuments Foundation and the Community Foundation of Northeast Georgia, with the goal of promoting peace and unity through interfaith prayer, acts of kindness and storytelling.
Ambassador Andrew Young, the King Center, and other Atlanta legends will be part of the occasion. Will your congregation join us?
This is a true community effort, with the monumental statue designed and sculpted by Georgia artists Kathy Fincher and Stan Mullins. It shows Dr. King as he delivered his iconic “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech.
The day will start with a gathering at the Home Depot Backyard, followed by a peace walk to Rodney Cook Sr. Peace Park for the unveiling of the new statue.
We humbly request your presence and support during this solemn, yet beautiful occasion, the lead event of the week commemorating the 55th anniversary of Dr. King’s assassination.
Here is a look at the day’s agenda:
10:45 a.m. – Opening Remarks and Prayer at the Home Depot Backyard next to Mercedes Benz Stadium
