Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Your bishops and priests are so grateful for your prayers and support. It strengthens us to know that you are remembering us in your prayers. And, your prayers help fortify the foundation of the church and all the work that we do to reach people for Christ.
As you may have read in the November 10th edition of The Georgia Bulletin, a prayer ministry for priests, the Seven Sisters Apostolate, is active in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. The mission of the Seven Sisters Apostolate is “a call to strengthen the church by ensuring that a Holy Hour is prayed each day of the week for the sole intention of a specific priest or bishop . . . for his deeper conformity to Christ.” Fasting Brothers are men who commit to fasting one day a week for their priest. They work in conjunction with the Seven Sister’s group.
There is an effort underway to expand this ministry and form a chapter for the priests and bishops who work here in the chancery. Plans are also underway to form groups for parish priests who are not already covered by this ministry.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can become involved, I invite you to read the article in The Georgia Bulletin at https://georgiabulletin.org/news/2022/11/seven-sisters-emphasizes-power-of-prayer-for-priests/ or visit www.sevensisters.org. The attached information sheet will give you more details specific to the groups forming here and how to sign up. Please reach out to Amanda Hailey at ahailey@archatl.com if you would like to be involved with the effort here at the chancery.
I hope you will consider participating in the Seven Sister Apostolate or the Fasting Brothers. My fellow priests and I appreciate your prayers.
