To: Priests, deacons, brothers, sisters, principals and chancery staff
From: Most Rev. Joel M. Konzen, S.M.
My previous communication stating that Deacon Nicholas Wolfla, OFM Conv., will serve as Vicar for Religious and Vicar for Canonical Affairs was incorrect. The Church names only priests as vicars for these responsibilities. Thus, Deacon Wolfla (Brother Nicholas) is Delegate for Religious and Delegate for Canonical Affairs for the Archdiocese.
As stated earlier, Deacon Wolfla, who prefers to be called ‘Brother Nicholas,’ worked in the Metropolitan Tribunal from 2006 to 2014. As Delegate for Religious, he is the chief liaison with and spokesperson for vowed religious, consecrated women and men, and archdiocesan hermits. He will be assisted in this area by Sr. Rezan Mehanzel, SSA, who has served as delegate for religious during the past year.
As Delegate for Canonical Affairs, Brother Nicholas will serve as the primary contact point for clergy, religious, chancery employees and parish personnel who have questions related to the Church’s Canon Law. In addition, he will assist the bishops and chancery officials in their responsibilities.
Please note that all questions pertaining to marriage law – whether annulments, dissolutions, lack of form cases, or pre-nuptial files – should be directed to the Metropolitan Tribunal.
As an ordained deacon, Brother Nicholas will assist at liturgies at Holy Cross parish, where he will be in residence, and at the Chancery. He can be reached at nwolfla@archatl.com or by calling 404-920-7653.
