The Tribunal will be offering a training class for new Tribunal Advocates, beginning Saturday, November 5. The course will run for seven Saturdays, with breaks for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, and will conclude on January 14, 2023. Classes will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants can attend either in person or via video conference. Individuals must attend all seven sessions and make-up sessions are not available.
Tribunal advocates assist the faithful who wish to petition for a declaration of nullity or a dissolution of marriage. They are trained in the fundamentals of marriage law and canonical matrimonial procedures.
Ideal candidates are those who work in the legal field as either lawyers or para-legals. All applicants must have at least a bachelor’s degree and some professional experience. To apply for the Advocate Training Program, candidates should complete and submit an application, which can be downloaded from the Tribunal website HERE.
For more information about the work of advocates, candidates should contact Mr. Joe Tovar, chief advocate of the Metropolitan Tribunal, at jtovar@archatl.com or 404-920-7503.
