To: Pastors, priests, deacons, religious brothers and sisters, principals and parish staff
From: Patrick Metts, LPC, associate director, Office of Evangelization & Discipleship
On Thursday, March 3, at 10:30 a.m., we will be hosting Dr. Dan Meola, founder and president of the new ministry Life-Giving Wounds (LGW), for a virtual informational session. Dr. Dan will discuss the founding of this ministry and how it seeks to bring healing to adult children of divorce and separation. The hour-long session can be accessed through this link. Clergy and parish ministry leaders are encouraged to attend to gain a better understanding of how a local LGW support group could help their parish community and to learn more about the upcoming retreat experience (see below).
LGW gives individuals a greater understanding of the wound of parental divorce and separation and the ways it affects their lives, offers advice about the difficulties concerning love and trust of others, and explains how the Catholic faith, spiritual practices and the sacraments are essential to self-knowledge and healing.
The Office of Evangelization & Discipleship will be hosting an in-person, weekend retreat, March 25-27, given by the LGW traveling retreat team. This retreat will serve as a first step to launch an LGW chapter in the archdiocese. The retreat begins on Friday, March 25, at 7 p.m. and ends on Sunday, March 27, at 3:30 p.m. Cost per individual is $90 (includes several meals and all materials). Must be 18 (post high school) or older to attend. To register and for more information, please visit the registration page. For possible retreat scholarship opportunity or for more information, please email me at pmetts@archatl.com.
