L’ Arche Atlanta, an organization with Catholic roots that started in France and supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has an immediate opening for a full-time (40 hours per week) live-in house assistant to live and work in the L’ Arche home in Decatur. House assistants build a relationship of mutual care and support with persons with disabilities (Core Members); foster a home life of unity, mutual respect and participation by all members; and provides direct care supports and skill-building for core members. Providing support may look like assisting Core Members with activities of daily living, meal preparation, transportation, social engagement with family and friends, healthcare support (medication management, accompaniment to doctor’s appointments, medical advocacy, etc.), money management and the documentation associated with those activities. No prior experience working with people with disabilities is required. The starting salary for an entry-level assistant is $26,000 (previous qualified experience working with people with disabilities will increase compensation). L’ Arche pays 93 percent of the employee health, vision and dental insurance premium. Live-in assistants accrue 25 days of paid time off per year. This position will work with our Development Team and be instrumental in growing our donor base.
