See details here.
Let yourself become inspired. Every week, Justice for Immigrants offers “Faces of Migration,” stories of immigrants, refugees and asylees. Each story recounts the heroism of migrants as well as those who have helped them or advocated for them. If you have a story to share, email jfi@usccb.org.
Afghan refugees need transportation. The United States government brought refugees from Afghanistan but many need transportation from refugee center is the United States to the place where they can settle. If you have extra frequent flyer miles, learn how you can donate them (or money) the Billion Mile Challenge at http://welcome.us/miles.
CLINIC Executive Director addresses Bishops’ Assembly. Calling CLINIC the “largest poor people’s immigration law firm in the country,” Anna Gallagher, executive director, gave the Bishops Assembled in Baltimore some of the history of the organization as well as current challenges and opportunities. Thousands of asylum seekers wait at our southern border, thousands of individuals qualified for Deferred Action Childhood Arrival (DACA) wait for legislation to make their status permanent and thousands of Afghan refugees remain in refugee camps for a path to legal status. In each case, legislation and legal assistance is needed and Ms. Gallagher called on the bishops to discover the needs and resources in their dioceses.
