From: Msgr. James Schillinger, director, Ongoing Formation of Priest
Our Advent Day of Recollection will be held on Monday, November 29, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Atlanta. All priests serving in the archdiocese are invited and encouraged to attend.
I am pleased to announce that our presenter will be Abbot Placid Solari, O.S.B., of Belmont Abbey in North Carolina. A native of Richmond, Virginia, Abbot Placid attended Bellarmine College in Louisville, KY before entering Belmont Abbey in 1975. He continued his studies in Rome at San Anselmo where he earned an S.T.B., in 1978 and later a doctorate in patristics at the Augustinianum. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1980. In November 1999, he was elected the 8th Abbot of Belmont Abbey. He also serves as the Chancellor of Belmont Abbey College.
This day set aside for prayer and the strengthening of priestly fraternity has been a longstanding tradition for the Atlanta clergy. As such, we hope you will look upon the day as a priority in your scheduling. Feel free to arrive at Holy Spirit Church any time after 9:45 a.m. Coffee and light refreshments will be available before the morning session begins at 10:30 a.m. There will be an opportunity during the day for individual celebrations of the sacrament of reconciliation. You can plan to be on your way home by 3 p.m.
Since a box lunch will be provided, it is necessary that we know how many priests are planning to attend. RSVP to Amanda Hailey (ahailey@archatl.com) no later than Monday, November 22.
Holy Spirit Catholic Church is located at 4465 Northside Drive NW Atlanta, GA 3032.
