To: Pastors, principals and business managers
From: Brad Wilson, Chief Financial Officer, Office of Finance
Michael Warren announced his plans to retire in late October after 12 years of faithful service. He and Claudia plan to spend their retirement years in Atlanta. Instead of driving to the Chancery each day, Michael will be playing golf, guitar, gardening, woodworking and enjoying his daughter Lindsey, her husband Jeff and little grandson, Connor.
I cannot overstate how instrumental Michael has been in improving our services to the parishes and schools. For those pastors not in place 12 years ago, just ask one of your “senior” friends.
In his role as Director of Financial Services, Michael leads four areas: Parish Support (Patrick Warner), Risk Insurance (Alex Hagen), Shared Accounting Services (Jack Husack) and Internal Audit (Holly Orsagh). With budget concerns in mind, I am splitting the duties between myself and Brenda Leslie who is currently the Controller for the three northern CENGI schools of Blessed Trinity, Queen of Angels and Holy Redeemer. Brenda will continue in that role, and beginning Wednesday, September 1, will add leadership of Parish Support and Risk Insurance to her responsibilities. Shared Accounting Services and Internal Audit will report to me.
Only a few of you know Brenda Leslie’s background. She grew up in New Orleans and attended St. Andrew the Apostle and Academy of the Sacred Heart. She received her degree in accounting from the University of New Orleans. Brenda began her accounting career with KPMG in New Orleans in their audit practice and continued her work in finance and accounting management with several privately owned businesses in New Orleans. After moving to Atlanta in 2004, she rejoined KPMG before becoming the Director of Finance and Human Resources for Camp Twin Lakes, Inc., a position which allowed her to be part of guiding the organization’s tremendous growth in providing life changing experiences to campers with serious illnesses, disabilities and other life challenges. I recruited Brenda to be the Controller for CENGI in 2018.
Brenda is married to John Leslie and they have two children, Alexandra and Graham. Both attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Marietta and graduated from Blessed Trinity High School. (Alexandra -2016, Graham – 2019).
During these transition months, please thank Michael for his accomplishments, wish him a happy and long retirement, and welcome Brenda to her expanded role.
