To: Priests
From: Monsignor James Schillinger, Director, Ongoing Formation of Priests
The bishops of the five dioceses of the Atlanta Province (Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte, Raleigh and Savannah) meet regularly. Every two years, their meeting is extended and opened to the priests of the province. Each of the dioceses takes their turn in hosting the event. During this time, there is usually a presentation and discussion on a particular theological topic or pastoral question, but the opportunity to spend time with brother priests from neighboring dioceses is probably the most significant accomplishment of the assembly. Archbishop Hartmayer would like you to consider attending this year’s assembly.
The 2021 Provincial Assembly of Bishops and Priests will be hosted by the Diocese of Charlotte and is scheduled for August 23-25. This meeting will be held in person, face to face, nothing virtual about it, in Charlotte, NC, at the Sonesta Hotel. The theme for the assembly is “Christus Vivit: Youth and Young Adult Ministry.”
If you are ready to spring quarantine and join the bishops and your fellow priests for the meeting and fellowship, be sure to put this on your calendar. Additional information and registration materials will be sent at a later date. For now, save the dates.
