To: Priests
From: Monsignor James Schillinger, Director, Ongoing Formation of Priests
All priests serving in the Archdiocese of Atlanta are invited to gather for our Advent day of prayer and reflection on Tuesday, December 1. Information sent earlier this year said the event would be held at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers. However, due to COVID-19 we have had to change the venue. We now plan to have our Advent Day of Reflection at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Atlanta.
I am very pleased to announce that our presenter this year will be Rev. Peter Fink, SJ, retreat director and spiritual advisor at Ignatius House since 2016. A Jesuit from the New York Province, he was ordained to the priesthood in 1969. Rev. Fink was a professor of sacramental-liturgical theology at the Weston Jesuit School of Theology (now part of Boston College) for 31 years and is the author of numerous books and articles on liturgical and sacramental theology. He also edited The New Dictionary of Sacramental Worship. He holds an M.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an S.T.M. from Woodstock College and a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Emory University.
Our day of reflection will begin at 10 a.m. with time for fellowship. There will be a morning and an afternoon conference. Due to COVID-19 protocol, all participants will be socially distanced and masks are required. A box lunch and soft drinks will be served. There will also be an opportunity during the day to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Holy Spirit Catholic Church is located at 4465 Northside Dr. NW Atlanta, GA 30327.
I hope you will plan to attend.
To RSVP, please contact Amanda Hailey at ahailey@archatl.com no later than Friday, November 27.
