From: Christie Crane, Manager of Volunteer Resources, Catholic Charities Atlanta
Catholic Charities Atlanta’s Refugee Youth Mentoring Program is seeking volunteers (ages 21+) who are ready to offer welcome and support to refugee teens (ages 12-17) through virtual mentoring.
Mentors and mentees are paired one-on-one and meet weekly, spending time together in activities such as working on homework or pursuing shared interests. Currently this opportunity entails “meeting” with kids virtually, with the hope to eventually meet in person once it is safe. Most of the refugee families we serve live in Clarkston, Tucker or Decatur.
Mentor Eligibility: Mentors must be 21+ years old and willing to meet with mentee weekly for one year. In addition, mentors need to complete an application, background checks, Safe Environment training and trainings on working with youth (8 hours total).
