Starting last Friday, Sept. 11, the Archdiocese of Atlanta will release one video per week related to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Faithful Citizenship documents. These videos are meant to explore some of the issues Catholics should consider as they discern for whom they should vote this year.
As Archbishop Hartmayer explains in the introductory video, the church will not tell anyone for whom to vote. The hope in sharing these videos is that we can remind people that participation in the public sphere is a moral duty, a right open to all Americans and a good thing for our country.
The videos will also encourage Catholics to take the Civilize It pledge to be respectful and well informed this and every election year. We hope you will join this effort to encourage civility and respect.
Each video will be posted to a special Vimeo page (https://vimeo.com/channels/faithfulcitizenship) and shared on social media every week from now until the end of October.
