Given the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s operations, the Office of Archives and Records is dedicated to documenting and preserving the many ways the pandemic has affected our churches, schools, offices and individuals.
We are interested in collecting records related to our local church’s response to this unique challenge and its impact on our people (chancery staff, parents/students, faculty, parishioners, etc.). These records may include:
- Communications – official announcements, memos, instructions, letters from concerned parents/parishioners, etc.
- Photographs – Mass with empty pews, clergy wearing masks, drive-thru confession, signage (from marquee letterboards to paper posted on doors), outreach efforts (food drives, mask distribution), etc.
- Videos – Major announcements, Mass samplings (particularly Easter or Palm Sunday), etc.
- Graphics used for social media, banners, etc.
We have created an online form to submit digital materials directly to us. Physical materials may be mailed to the attention of the Office of Archives and Records at the chancery, 2401 Lake Park Dr., Smyrna, GA 30080 or brought in by appointment once normal operations resume.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us by email at archives@archatl.com.
