To: Priests, deacons, principals, youth ministers and parish staff
From: † Joel M. Konzen, S.M., Diocesan Administrator
Pope Francis, in his recent Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation, Christus Vivit, wrote to young people these encouraging words: “Christ is alive and He wants you to be alive! … You are the now of God, and He wants you to bear fruit…. Dare to be more… You can become what God your Creator knows you are, if only you realize that you are called to something greater,” (nos. 1, 178, and 107).
Recognizing and responding to the call of Pope Francis to draw close to young people, the Archdiocese of Atlanta continues to seek ways to accompany our young people in their walk of discipleship. With that in mind, I am pleased to extend an invitation to all our high school teens to an Archdiocese of Atlanta High School Youth Rally on Saturday, March 21, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This youth rally will be hosted by St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church in Snellville, GA.
The theme of the event is “Dare to be More,” taken from the Pope’s Apostolic Exhortation. The day will consist of keynote addresses from two dynamic speakers, Leah Darrow and David Bisonó, as well as workshops, praise and worship, confession and Mass. I ask all the pastors and youth ministers in our Archdiocese to consider attending this special event to journey with your youth. May our young people grow in holiness and honor God with their lives and witness.
I am grateful for the leadership of St. Oliver Plunkett as well as for the help from other collaborating parishes and archdiocesan offices. The hope is to continue this event as an annual opportunity for our high school youth.
