2020 marks the 25th Annual Eucharistic Congress!
What better way to celebrate 25 years than to pack 250,000 meals!
Yes, you read that right. We will pack a quarter of a million meals for Starve Wars: Episode V!
In order to reach this goal, our meal packing event has to be bigger than ever before. We will double our Friday morning packing sessions to accommodate 600 packers at each session. We will also be offering some exciting opportunities to be involved before our June 12 event if you would like to do more or will not be able to make our June 12 packing.
Having more than doubled our meal goal means that our financial obligation has also greatly increased. We must raise $125,000 to cover the cost of the meals, shipping to Burkina Faso, and long-term development aid for the region.
The registration website will open in January. However, with a goal of recruiting over 1,000 meal packers and raising $125,000, we have to start now, with you. Everyone in the Archdiocese of Atlanta can be a part of this historic event. Parish ministries, families, co-workers – we call on everyone to start thinking now about who they can ask to take those first steps into a larger world and join us for Starve Wars!
This year, we will highlight the impact and importance of Catholic education in all its forms. Therefore, we are putting a special call out to schools, youth ministry groups, and faith formation classes to form teams to fundraise and compete to raise the most money and pack the most meals. We will make sure
our winners receive recognition for all of their hard work!
Help us, Archdiocese of Atlanta, you’re our only hope!
STARVE WARS! is a collaborative effort between the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Justice and Peace Ministries, Catholic Relief Services, Helping Hands, and the people of the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
