From: Fr. Daniel Ketter, Judicial Vicar, Metropolitan Tribunal
The Metropolitan Tribunal has introduced a new version of the application for ordinary process (formal) annulment cases.
Enhancements to the new ordinary process application include:
– Fillable Adobe® Acrobat® PDF technology;
– Cleaner layout for easier completion either on a computer or by hand;
– Questions written to better identify the relevant grounds of the alleged nullity;
– Updated and integrated Agreement of Understanding;
– Option to elect email versus paper for select communications;
– Available in English and Spanish (coming soon in Vietnamese).
You can find the new application on the webpage of the Tribunal under the link “Documents.” If you have electronic or printed copies of the old application, please discard them.
You will also find in the new application the Mandate of Appointment of Advocate. Only an individual who has completed the Tribunal Advocate Training Program and been commissioned by the Diocesan Administrator/Archbishop may serve as an Advocate.
A roster of commissioned Advocates and their contact information is located on the webpage of the Tribunal under the link “Tribunal Advocates.” A Petitioner should meet with an Advocate before submitting an application to the Tribunal.
Applications submitted without consultation with an Advocate will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine the best way to proceed.
