To: All Priests, Parishes, and Missions
From: Office of Archives and Records
In light of disastrous fires at churches in Paris and Louisiana, the Office of Archives and Records reminds all parishes and missions in the Archdiocese of Atlanta that we are available to store any important historical documents, photographs, and artifacts in our Archives.
Our state-of-the-art fire suppression system uses gas instead of water, ensuring that all materials are as safe as possible from damage in the event of a fire. This system is inspected regularly.
As always, any items stored in the Archives may be accessed in-person by appointment, with digital copies of documents and photographs available upon request. We are also accessible to answer any requests remotely via email or phone.
We encourage all parishes and missions to make note of all historical materials not currently in use and consider sending them to the Archives. We further encourage replacing materials in exhibits with high quality reproductions wherever possible.
Should you decide to send any items to the Archives, please pack them carefully and mail them to the Chancery at the attention of the Office of Archives and Records, along with a transmittal form detailing the pieces sent. If you prefer, we are also available to come to your location to pack up the materials and transport them to the Archives.
If you would like to contact us to schedule a visit, or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us by email at email@example.com or by phone at 404-920-7690.
