The Office of Catholic Schools proudly announces the winners of the 2019 Scholarship for Academic Excellence. This scholarship is awarded to two rising freshmen planning to attend one of our Archdiocesan Catholic high schools. Applicants must be Catholic and rank in the top 15% of their class. The scholarships, in the amount of $350.00 each, are awarded to one male and one female applicant, and are renewable in the student’s sophomore year as long as he/she remains in good standing with the school. The overall value of the scholarship, therefore, is $700.00 per recipient.
Our female recipient is Miss Joelle Miller of Queen of Angels Catholic School in Roswell. Joelle will continue her education at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in the fall. She has been actively engaged in her school and church, securing several recognitions for her academic achievement. She also helped create the organization SMILES, a non-profit organization to assist families dealing with a cancer diagnosis of a loved one. Joelle is the daughter of Marc and Jessica Miller and a parishioner at St. Peter Chanel in Roswell.
Mr. Alejandro Guigou of Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic School is our male recipient of the 2019 Scholarship for Academic Excellence. Alejandro looks forward to attending Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in August. Alejandro has received the Spirit of Saint Jude Award and consistently earned honor roll status. In addition, he has served the community at large by feeding the homeless over the Thanksgiving holidays and making blankets for the homeless. Alejandro is the son of Jorge and Clara Guigou and is a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody.
Please join us in recognizing these two outstanding students. We offer our gratitude to the school communities of Queen of Angels and Saint Jude the Apostle, as well as the parishes of St. Peter Chanel and All Saints for supporting both Joelle and Alejandro in their faith formation.
