In the face of 3 billion people around the world facing hunger and poverty each day, Pope Francis reminds us, “The words of our Lord call to us today, telling us not to turn away, indifferent, when we know our neighbor is hungry.” Turning those words into action, we will once again kick off the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Eucharistic Congress with a Friday morning meal-packing event.
Recognizing that our military service members know intimately that call to action in service to others, we invite active and veteran members of all military branches to join us for our 9:00 a.m. meal packing session. Bishop Bernard Shlesinger III, an Air Force veteran himself, will be present and will offer our opening prayer.
Meal packing will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21, in Hall A of the Georgia International Convention Center, 2000 Convention Center Concourse, Atlanta, GA 30337. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to check in at our registration table. Space is limited and registration is required to participate. To register online, click here.
STARVE WARS! is a collaborative effort between the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Justice and Peace Ministries, Catholic Relief Services Helping Hands and the people of the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
