In the face of 3 billion people around the world facing hunger and poverty each day, Pope Francis reminds us, “The words of Our Lord call to us today, telling us not to turn away, indifferent, when we know our neighbor is hungry.” Turning those words into action, we will once again kick off the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Eucharistic Congress with a Friday morning meal-packing event.
We need approximately 650 volunteers of all ages and abilities to help pack 100,000 meals to go to the drought-stricken developing nation of Burkina Faso in West Africa. The event will take place Friday, June 21, at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park. There will be two sessions, 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Hall A of the Convention Center.
New to this year, we would like to invite active and veteran members of all branches of the military to join us so that we may recognize you and your service at our 9:00 a.m. session. We also strongly encourage clergy and clergy in formation to join us for either or both sessions. In order to be more inclusive, both sessions will have Spanish interpreters and the second session will be set up to include accommodations for those living with disabilities. Space is limited and registration is required to participate.
