Registration is now open for Starve Wars: Episode IV at the 2019 Eucharistic Congress.
In the face of 3 billion people around the world facing hunger and poverty each day, Pope Francis reminds us, “The words of our Lord call to us today, telling us not to turn away, indifferent, when we know our neighbor is hungry.” Turning those words into action, we will once again kick off the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Eucharistic Congress with a Friday morning meal-packing event.
We need approximately 650 volunteers of all ages and abilities to help pack 100,000 meals to go to the drought-stricken developing nation of Burkina Faso in West Africa. The event will take place on Friday, June 21 at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park. There will be two sessions, 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Hall A of the Convention Center.
We strongly encourage clergy and clergy in formation to join us for either or both sessions. In order to be more inclusive, both sessions will have Spanish interpreters and the second session will be set up to include accommodations for those living with disabilities. Space is limited and registration is required to participate. To register online, click here.
Starve Wars is a collaborative effort between the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Justice and Peace Ministries, Catholic Relief Services, Helping Hands and the people of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Please share this information in your bulletins and newsletters.
