We want to give you a quick update on the data collection cycle for the 2019 Official Catholic Directory.
As you may recall, the publishers of the Catholic Directory launched ocdedits.com for online data updating on December 4, 2017. This was a major systems upgrade for the Catholic Directory, and they have expressed gratitude for all of your efforts to make the transition from paper to online updating possible.
This year, we were notified that online data updating will begin on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.
The Official Catholic Directory hopes the timing of the online data updating will be more convenient for parishes, schools and other entities and provide the dioceses with more time in which to review, edit and approve the information.
Here is the information the publisher has shared with us:
“One of this year’s most important changes is that ALL entities listed in the Catholic Directory will be contacted by us via email rather than direct mail. An email from the Catholic Directory to each such entity announcing the opening of ocdedits.com for updating will be sent on October 9, 2018. The email will be sent to each entity’s OCD contact email as provided during last year’s updating cycle. Please note that the email will contain clear instructions for accessing the online system and your entities will not need to remember their user IDs and passwords from last year.
Please note that we will not be able to accept parish and institution updates on paper or via electronic means other than through ocdedits.com.
Such advance notice increases general awareness, improves the response rate, reduces the number of bounced emails, and helps us inform entities for which we still do not have an email address that the 2019 Official Catholic Directory updating has begun. Any entity that did not provide data last year will be able to create a user account when they access the system.”
