From: Kat Doyle, Director of Justice and Peace Ministries; Office of Life, Dignity, and Justice
Earlier this year, Justice and Peace Ministries, in partnership with StreetGrace, offered a presentation on Knowing the Signs to Fight Human Trafficking. Attendees learned that human trafficking is happening within the boundaries of every parish in the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
This modern-day slavery involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. It is estimated that human trafficking generates many billions of dollars of profit per year, second only to drug trafficking as the most profitable form of crime. It is a $290 million illegal industry in Georgia alone!
Justice and Peace Ministries is continuing our partnership with StreetGrace to offer this presentation to any parish who would like to host one. We can work with your local community and law enforcement to tailor it for the reality of human trafficking within your parish boundaries.
This is also an opportunity to host an event geared toward teens, who face the greatest risk of trafficking.
If you are interested in bringing this presentation to your parish, please email kdoyle@archatl.com or call 404-920-7897.
