To: Priests and Deacons
From: Wilton D. Gregory, Archbishop of Atlanta
For 115 years, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) has represented our Church in service to the poor throughout our great state. Last year alone, SVdP Georgia provided assistance to 130,000 individuals and this year is poised to both broaden and deepen its impact.
SVdP Georgia has an extraordinary opportunity at hand to purchase and transform its main service operation in Chamblee. The Conference Support Center is the hub for statewide programming efforts and the heart of SVdP’s mission in Georgia. Their Hope Transformed capital campaign will dramatically change the way St. Vincent de Paul supports 74 conferences and more than 5,000 volunteers throughout the state. It will provide a space that welcomes, educates, and empowers those who are ready to take the next step in their lives. Most importantly, it will allow SVdP Georgia to answer more calls for help, open more doors of opportunity, and help more neighbors find their paths to self-sufficiency and fulfillment.
I write in fervent support of our local Society of St. Vincent de Paul. I have reviewed the plans for their capital campaign and I am pleased to offer my enthusiastic endorsement. I ask that you support this campaign as well.
In the months to come you will be hearing from SVdP conference leaders and staff members. Please welcome them to your deanery meetings and into your parishes. We will not be adding an archdiocesan special collection to support the campaign, but I certainly encourage you to invite your parish community to support this timely, impactful endeavor.
I remain grateful for your extraordinary pastoral care of the people of God in our archdiocese, and I thank you in advance for your support of this important effort. If you would like more information on the Hope Transformed capital campaign, please contact:
