From: Fr. Paul A. Burke, J.C.L., Acting Chair, Archbishop’s Commission for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs
April 4, 2018 marked the 50th anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His assassination sent shockwaves reverberating around the world. While his life was cut short, his legacy continues. “Without justice, there can be no peace.” These words are as true today as they were when he wrote them over fifty years ago. The fiftieth anniversary of Dr. King’s death is especially meaningful for the ecumenical community here in Atlanta.
Please join Archbishop Wilton Gregory for an Ecumenical Prayer Service at the Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Road, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30305 on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. with a reception following in Kenny Hall.
Additional guests include Lutheran Bishop Julian Gordy, Greek Orthodox Fr. Panayiotis Papageorgiou, Civil Rights Leader/Baptist Pastor Rev. Dr. Gerald Durley and Episcopal Bishop Don Wimberly.
Many of our priests meet regularly with their ministerial counterparts. Please extend the invitation to them and their congregations. All are welcome.
