From: Fr. Paul A. Burke, J.C.L., Acting Chair, Archbishop’s Commission for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs
April 4, 2018 marks the 50th Anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His assassination sent shockwaves reverberating around the world. While his life was cut short, his legacy continues. “Without justice, there can be no peace.” These words are as true today as they were when he wrote them over fifty years ago. The fiftieth anniversary of Dr. King’s death is especially meaningful for the ecumenical community here in Atlanta.
Please join Archbishop Wilton Gregory and his auxiliary bishops, Most Reverend Bernard E. Shlesinger III and Most Reverend Joel M. Konzen, S.M. for an Ecumenical Service of Prayer at the Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Road, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30305 on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. with a reception following in Kenny Hall.
Many of our priests meet regularly with their ministerial counterparts. Please extend the invitation to them and their congregations. All are welcome.
Additionally, I would also like to invite choirs and musicians of our invited guests to join in the music for this celebration. In order to plan this service, I would ask that you please RSVP to Paula Gwynn Grant by April 5 at (404) 920-7344 or pgrant@archatl.com. Also, Paula will be happy to answer any questions that you may have. She will also take the names and information of your ecumenical contacts so that a personal message comes from Archbishop Gregory to the invited guests.
Thank you for all you do.
