St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the final apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Fátima, on Thursday, October 12th.
Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory will be attending Solemn Vespers at 7:00 p.m. followed by a candlelight Procession with the recitation of the Rosary.
The Vigil Service in anticipation of the anniversary, will follow the traditions of the Shrine in Portugal.
A replica statue, provided by the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima in Portugal, has been the focal point during observances of the past six months, marking the anniversary each 13th of the month.
The message of Our Lady of Fatima highlights some of the truths and devotions of the Catholic faith; including the Rosary, Trinity, Eucharist and penance.
This is one of the three Marian apparitions in the Catholic Church that is honored with a feast day. All are invited.
