To: Deacons and Deacons in Formation
From: Luis O. Capacetti, Moderator, Metropolitan Tribunal
The Metropolitan Tribunal announces a concise two-hour presentation: “Marriage, Annulment and the R.C.I.A.” to be offered at the Chancery from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11th.
This presentation will assist you in your ministry in serving those persons in the parish that are presently married or have been previously married and those planning to enter the Church.
The presentation will provide a “toolkit” to help identify and define annulment and/or convalidation needs to facilitate the delivery of accurate direction to persons that have current marriages outside the church and/or prior marriages so they may enter the Church as planned.
Within the presentation, these questions will be addressed:
What is a valid and Sacramental marriage in the Church? What is the role of Baptism? When is a convalidation needed? What is an annulment and the recent changes? What questions should be asked when Eastern Rites are involved in a marriage? What is the Briefer Process? These questions and more will be addressed.
There is no cost for the presentation. A continental breakfast and snacks will be provided.
